Investment and employment targets for 2040
Bayraktar said the investments envisaged through 2040 would provide approximately 108,000 direct jobs and 250,000 indirect jobs. He described the objective as making Türkiye energy-independent and self-sufficient. Alongside investment, he identified human resources and political stability as necessary to achieve those goals. The figures in the announcement are forward-looking investment and employment targets, rather than a statement of investments already completed or jobs already created. Source

Discussing the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in Mersin, Bayraktar said Türkiye was approaching its first nuclear electricity production. He referred to the coming weeks and months without providing a firm date. He said the plant, representing approximately $30 billion in investment, would meet 10% of Türkiye’s energy needs on its own. That share is presented as the minister’s forward-looking expectation. The announcement does not state that first electricity production has begun. Source

Bayraktar said the state covers 63% of household natural gas bills and 55% of electricity bills. He illustrated those proportions with support of 630 lira on a 1,000-lira gas bill and approximately 550 lira on a 1,000-lira electricity bill. He said support for citizens would continue. During the Mersin programme, the minister visited the governor’s office and attended an AK Party provincial advisory meeting, before meeting businesspeople at a gala dinner organised by MÜSİAD.
