CDP 2026: Single Questionnaire, Environmental Topics Tailored to Organisation

CDP corporate disclosures are conducted using a single integrated questionnaire approach. Visible questions and modules are customised according to company type, environmental issues, CDP-ACS sector, company size, and revenue information.

Climate Change

Governance, strategy, risks/opportunities, Scope 1-2-3, targets, transition plan, and financial impacts.

Water Security

Water withdrawal, consumption, discharge, site risks, targets, and water security management.

Forests & Nature

Forest dependencies, impacts, risks, commodity traceability, biodiversity, plastics, and other nature topics as appropriate.

Ocean — New for 2026

CDP has added new data points for ocean-related dependencies, impacts, risks, and opportunities for the first time in 2026.

Full Corporate

Detailed corporate questionnaire for large and comprehensive organisations, includes sector- and environmental topic-based tailoring.

SME Questionnaire

A shorter and simplified questionnaire for SMEs. Eligibility and selection are determined during questionnaire setup.

CDP-ACS: CDP assigns sector-based questions using its own Activity Classification System structure. Therefore, directly using NACE/SIC matching instead of the CDP questionnaire is not accurate.
2026 Calendar

CDP 2026 Scoring and Submission Calendar

30 September 2026 Upper limit specified by CDP for a limited number of paid on-demand score requests after the standard deadline.
28 October 2026 Questionnaire Closure Date. If CDP announces an alternative date with an official notification, the updated notification will be taken as a basis.
Critical language note for Turkey: If corporate responses are to be scored, they must be submitted in English, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, or Spanish. Turkish corporate responses are not scored. Preparation work can be carried out in Turkish; the final scorable response must be prepared in one of the accepted languages.
Portal & Questionnaire Setup

How Does the CDP Portal Process Work?

Access and request control

Capital Markets, Supply Chain, or other requester demands and voluntary disclosure status are checked in the Portal.

Submission Lead and administration fee

The authorised user for submission is determined; if applicable, the CDP admin fee process or exemption selection is completed.

Questionnaire setup

Organisation profile, environmental topics, and sector information are entered; the Full Corporate/SME path and questionnaire are shaped accordingly.

Data, evidence, and response drafting

Question owners, data sources, emissions/water/forest evidence, and management explanations are prepared.

Scoring & Essential Criteria review

Question-level scoring, category weights, and level-limiting Essential Criteria are checked.

Portal QA and submission

Consistency, attachments, language, calculations, and mandatory fields are subjected to a final check; the final submission is made by the Submission Lead.

Scoring Methodology

CDP Score Levels and Essential Criteria

The CDP score does not solely depend on the number of responses; it progresses based on the completeness of disclosure, understanding of environmental issues, management practices, and leadership-level evidence.

D / D− Disclosure — scope and completeness of disclosure
C / C− Awareness — understanding of risks, impacts, and environmental issues
B / B− Management — evidence of policy, process, and implementation
A / A− Leadership — high maturity and leadership practices
Essential Criteria: Absolute conditions apply at some score levels. Even if your score threshold is sufficient, if the relevant Essential Criteria are not met, the final score may remain at a lower level. For 2026, up-to-date topic-based scoring methodology and Essential Criteria documents must be taken as a basis.
EuropeCarbon Working Method

FAQs

CDP 2026 Frequently Asked Questions

What is CDP?
CDP is an independent environmental disclosure system that allows companies and public institutions to share their environmental data with investors, customers, and other data users. The corporate questionnaire may cover climate change, water security, forests, and other nature topics according to your organisation's profile.
What has changed in the CDP 2026 questionnaire?
The 2026 corporate questionnaire is conducted under a single integrated structure. In addition to Climate Change, Water Security, Forests, Biodiversity, and Plastics, Ocean has been included in the questionnaire for the first time in 2026. Visible questions are tailored according to organisation type, environmental topic, sector, size, and revenue information.
What are the critical dates for CDP 2026?
According to CDP's 2026 Terms of Disclosure, the standard deadline for scoring is 16 September 2026, and the Questionnaire Closure Date is 28 October 2026. If CDP makes changes to these dates, the Portal and official notifications should be referenced.
How to log in to the CDP Portal and complete submission?
Organisation access is managed via the CDP Portal. The Submission Lead role is verified, the administration fee process (if any) is completed, the questionnaire setup is performed, responses and attachments are checked, and the final response is submitted by the Submission Lead.
What is the difference between the Full Corporate and SME questionnaires?
CDP 2026 includes a Full Corporate Questionnaire and a shorter, simplified SME Questionnaire. Eligibility for the SME Questionnaire is determined during questionnaire setup based on the organisation's total number of employees and annual revenue for the reporting year. For eligible organisations with fewer than 500 employees and less than US$50 million in annual revenue, the SME path is suggested, and a switch to the Full Corporate option is possible. Some organisations with fewer than 1,000 employees and less than US$250 million in revenue may continue to be eligible for SME, but Full Corporate may be recommended. Organisations with more than 1,000 employees or over US$250 million in annual revenue are not eligible for the SME Questionnaire and use Full Corporate. Questionnaire setup, requester context, and the organisation's disclosure objectives may also influence which path is more appropriate.
Which environmental topics can be reported in CDP 2026?
Climate Change questions are the primary corporate disclosure topic for companies. For companies using the Full Corporate Questionnaire, supplementary questions for biodiversity are included; plastics and Ocean data points, added for the first time in 2026, may be shown depending on the questionnaire pathway and setup. The scope of Water Security and Forests can be shaped by requester demands, CDP-ACS, organisation profile, and related opt-in or intent-to-submit selections. Therefore, not all environmental topics are entirely optional; which additional data points are shown is determined by the organisation's questionnaire setup and disclosure path.
How does CDP scoring work?
CDP corporate scoring is assessed at four maturity levels: Disclosure (D/D-), Awareness (C/C-), Management (B/B-), and Leadership (A/A-). Question-based scoring, category weights, and relevant Essential Criteria together influence the final score.
What are Essential Criteria?
Essential Criteria are absolute conditions that must be met to reach a certain score level. Even if the score threshold is exceeded, if the relevant Essential Criteria are not met, the organisation may not be able to advance to a higher score level. For 2026, up-to-date topic-based Essential Criteria documents are published by CDP.
How to prepare for the 2026 CDP A List?
The 2026 disclosure cycle is ongoing as of July 2026; the 2026 A List has not yet been finalised. For an A/A- and A List target, the relevant scoring methodology, category scores, and Essential Criteria should be considered together; it should be remembered that the final score is given by CDP.
Is a Turkish CDP response scored?
No. According to CDP 2026 Terms of Disclosure, if corporate responses are to be scored, they must be submitted in English, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, or Spanish. Corporate responses submitted in Turkish or other languages are not scored.
When are CDP results announced?
The final date for public announcement of CDP 2026 scores is announced separately by CDP. Your organisation's current score and privacy status should be monitored via the CDP Portal; for organisations receiving an A score, CDP's A List application also applies.
Why is CDP important for companies in Turkey?
Companies in Turkey can respond to CDP due to investor demand, customer or Supply Chain demand, or as part of a voluntary disclosure. Especially for exporters and companies connected to multinational supply chains, CDP can help manage environmental data requests in a standard structure.
What data is prepared under CDP Water Security?
Water Security scope may include data such as water withdrawal, discharge, consumption, site-specific water risks, governance, targets, and responses to risks. The exact questionnaire varies according to the organisation's profile and questionnaire setup.
What do CDP Forests and nature scope include?
The Forests scope is not solely about deforestation declarations; forest-related dependencies, impacts, risks, opportunities, commodity traceability, and conversion risks can also be addressed. In the 2026 integrated questionnaire, other nature topics such as biodiversity, plastics, and ocean can also be opened depending on the organisation's profile.
What topics stand out within CDP Climate Change?
Within Climate Change, numerous data points may be found, including governance, strategy, risks and opportunities, Scope 1-2-3 emissions, targets, transition plans, mitigation practices, and financial impacts. The sector and organisation profile influence which questions are opened.
How are Scope 3 emissions addressed in CDP?
Relevant Scope 3 categories are evaluated; activity data used, emission factors, methodology, assumptions, and data quality are explained. Which categories are material depends on the company's value chain and operating model.
What is the CDP Supply Chain program?
CDP Supply Chain is a program where large buyers request environmental data from their suppliers via CDP. According to CDP's 2025 data, approximately 45,000 suppliers were asked to disclose under the Supply Chain program.
How are CDP fees determined?
In 2026, companies, including SMEs, must complete the CDP administration fee process before submitting their responses; different practices may apply in certain request types or exemption situations. Current fee and exemption conditions should be checked on the CDP Portal and official pricing pages.
What is a CDP investor request?
A Capital Markets request is when an environmental disclosure is requested from an organisation on behalf of CDP Capital Markets Signatories. In 2026, over 540 financial institutions, representing over US$110 trillion in assets, are requesting data from more than 43,000 organisations via CDP.
How are organisation ID and user permissions managed in the CDP Portal?
Organisation information, access roles, and permissions are managed via the CDP Portal. Submission authority is linked to the Submission Lead role; user access and organisation information should be checked before the response process.
Is CDP assurance or independent verification mandatory in all cases?
No. The necessity for verification varies by topic, question, and scoring criteria. Independent verification may contribute to scoring or meeting Essential Criteria for certain data points; however, it does not alone guarantee a high score.
What is the difference between CDP and IFRS S2, GRI, SASB, and TCFD?
CDP is an environmental disclosure and scoring system. IFRS S2 is a climate-related financial disclosure standard; GRI are impact-focused sustainability reporting standards; SASB offers sector-specific investor-focused metrics. TCFD recommendations have formed an important basis for the development of IFRS S2 and other climate disclosure approaches.
