Osman Gazi platform to shift natural gas processing offshore
Minister Bayraktar said Osman Gazi would process natural gas offshore before sending it to Filyos. Higher production is envisaged from 2027, with a second platform expected to arrive in Türkiye in 2028.

Türkiye’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources outlined the planned production and processing model for the Osman Gazi floating production platform in an announcement dated 18 October 2026. Speaking on Kanal 7, Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said gas would be processed aboard the platform and transported to Filyos through seabed pipelines. His remarks combined current production figures with future targets. [Source](https://enerji.gov.tr/haber-detay?id=31949)
Moving processing from shore to sea
Bayraktar said the previous project brought gas to Filyos for onshore processing. Osman Gazi would instead process it offshore, an approach he described as a first for Turkish oil and gas production. The processed gas would travel 170 kilometres to Filyos before being supplied to homes and workplaces. [Source](https://enerji.gov.tr/haber-detay?id=31949) The platform has 21 separate modules. Bayraktar compared it to a natural gas processing and production factory. He described it as approximately three football pitches long and 56 metres wide, with its height above the sea, including the flare tower, comparable to a roughly 40-storey skyscraper. The minister said Osman Gazi would double production to 20 million cubic metres. The announcement did not explicitly specify a time unit for that volume. At prices prevailing when he spoke, Bayraktar projected production worth $10 million a day and $3.5–3.6 billion annually from 2027. These figures were presented as expectations for future output. According to Bayraktar, four million households currently use domestically produced natural gas, a figure expected to reach eight million with Osman Gazi. He said the facility would produce gas and send it ashore for 20 years. Separately, he reported that Black Sea Phase 1 had produced approximately 7.3 billion cubic metres from 2023 up to the announcement. This distinguishes reported historical production from the anticipated platform-driven increase. [Source](https://enerji.gov.tr/haber-detay?id=31949)

Bayraktar said a second floating production platform was under construction. It is planned to depart for Türkiye around December 2027 and arrive in the first quarter of 2028. He envisaged an additional 25 million cubic metres of production, bringing the total to 45 million cubic metres, with domestic gas serving three out of four households from 2028. These dates and volumes are forward-looking plans, not completed outcomes. [Source](https://enerji.gov.tr/haber-detay?id=31949)
