The ministry announced plans for Osman Gazi to leave Filyos and begin production in early 2027. Sakarya field output is projected to reach 20 million cubic metres per day.

Türkiye’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources announced on 15 October 2026 that the Osman Gazi Floating Production Platform is scheduled to be sent off from Filyos Port on 17 October. Described as Türkiye’s first floating production platform, it will serve the second phase of the Sakarya Gas Field. The announcement sets separate schedules for departure and production. Production targeted for early 2027

Following deployment, the ministry plans for the first gas to be burned at the platform’s flare tower by the end of 2026, with production beginning in early 2027. This sequence is expected to complete the Sakarya field’s second phase. The send-off announced for 17 October therefore does not mean production will begin that day: the source identifies production start-up as a later stage. Higher field output projected

The announcement puts current Sakarya field production at 9.5 million cubic metres per day. With Osman Gazi entering service, output is expected to reach 20 million cubic metres daily. The ministry also projects that the number of households whose gas needs are met by domestic production will rise from four million to eight million. These expectations depend on commissioning the platform; the announcement does not report that the increases have already occurred. [Source](https://enerji.gov.tr/haber-detay?id=31945)

Facilities reconfigured at Filyos

Of the platform’s 21 topside facilities, 11 were rebuilt to suit the Sakarya field’s characteristics, with seven manufactured in Türkiye and four abroad. The remaining 10 were modified and integrated into the platform. According to the ministry, approximately 7,000 people worked on preparations. The platform contains 642 kilometres of electrical cable, and the work included approximately 30 kilometres of piping. Its 96-metre flare tower, installed in August 2026, is intended to safely discharge hydrocarbon gases released during emergencies. [Source](https://enerji.gov.tr/haber-detay?id=31945)

Long-term operation and economic expectations

Osman Gazi is expected to operate continuously for 20 years at its designated location, approximately 170 kilometres offshore. With capacity for 140 personnel, the platform will process natural gas and deliver it ready for use to the national grid. The ministry estimates that daily gas production will represent approximately $10 million at the prices cited in the announcement, with an annual economic contribution of $3.5 billion. These amounts are economic projections presented in the announcement, rather than realised revenue. [Source](https://enerji.gov.tr/haber-detay?id=31945)
